Kremlin: Develop games for the motherland

It is reported that Russia is planning a roadmap for the development of game consoles to promote the development of the local game industry.

On March 28, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recently said that Putin has requested to formulate and plan a complete game console solution made, produced in Russia, with proprietary systems and cloud solutions before June 15, 2024, to promote the development of the local game industry in Russia.

The Electronic Games Industry Development Organization (RVI) provided the Russian government with a five-year roadmap in February this year, formulating an 83-point plan for Russian game development.

The RVI organization said earlier this year that it will join hands with international funds and organizations in the game field to promote the Russian game industry through in-depth exchanges. IT Home learned from the report that the RVI organization also plans to launch game consoles made in Russia during 2026-2027.

Russia held the first “Games of the Future” international championship earlier this month, adopting the “phygital” physical + digital approach, combining traditional sports and e-sports, and setting up a total of 21 comprehensive events.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that the first “Games of the Future” championship attracted more than 270 teams from 107 countries and regions around the world to participate.
