Two-thirds of CD Projekt’s developers are involved in the production of “The Witcher 4”, codenamed Polaris.

March 29, it was reported that CD Projekt is currently dedicated to the development of a new “The Witcher” trilogy, with the first installment internally codenamed “Polaris (Polar Star)”. It will continue the story of the “The Witcher” universe, and we can temporarily refer to it as “The Witcher 4”.

At the recent 2023 fiscal year earnings conference, CD Projekt revealed that the development team of this project currently has 403 employees, reaching the target number of employees, accounting for approximately two-thirds of CD Projekt’s total number of developers.

Co-CEO of CD Projekt, Michał Nowakowski, revealed that after the release of “Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty”, the number of staff working on the game has now dropped to 17, while the others have been assigned to other projects.

“On the other hand, the Polaris team has grown to more than 400 developers,” said Nowakowski, “reaching the target size for entering the production phase. This is scheduled to take place in the second half of this year.”

The team of “Project Sirius”, a “The Witcher” spin-off led by The Molasses Flood team, has not changed in size since CD Projekt’s last update and remains at less than 40 employees.

As early as January, Co-CEO of CD Projekt, Adam Badowski, stated that he hoped the production phase of the fourth main game of “The Witcher”, Polaris, could begin this year.
