Xbox is being rejected by European third-party game developers.

Chris Dring, the editor-in-chief of the game website GamesIndustry.biz, recently revealed in a live stream that after attending the Game Developer’s Conference held last week, he felt that more and more publishers were disliking the Microsoft Xbox platform.

After contacting several game publishers, Dring revealed in the podcast GI Microcast:
“The feedback I got is: The Xbox platform has performed mediocre in the European market.

You can follow our monthly reports on the game market, and you can see that Xbox sales are declining, they were declining throughout last year, and it is expected to decline even more this year.

A large game development company outright said, “I don’t even know what excuse we can find to continue to support it [Xbox]!”

Dring said in the podcast that the main platforms recognized by third-party game publishers are currently PC and PlayStation 5. The atmosphere described by Dring is limited to the European market, and which publishers are not specified in the podcast.

Previously, VGChartz shared the estimated sales of global game consoles in February 2024.

Among them, the PlayStation 5 game console is still the best-selling, selling a total of 1,285,514 units and having a cumulative sales of 55,471,977 units; the Xbox Series X|S sold 358,794 units, with a cumulative sales of 28.04 million units. The PlayStation 4 is estimated to have sold 6,363 units, with a cumulative sales of 117.16 million units.
